Why silicones?
Why silicones?
There are many advantages with silicones. We have summarised several of their strengths below. Please contact us if you want to know more, have any questions or need advice.
High thermal resistance
Of all types of adhesives, silicones generally provide the highest resistance against temperatures above 150°C. Tribotec’s range of industrial silicones copes with continuous temperatures around 200°C, and many go even higher. Ovens, LED fittings, components in the vicinity of car engines – they must withstand elevated temperatures for long time, and therefore silicones as adhesives and protective material become the natural choice.
Resist UV radiation
Silicone adhesives are hardly affected by strong UV radiation, unlike most other types of adhesives. Therefore, sun panels, parts for space equipment, road signs etc., are bonded using silicone adhesives.
Flexible at very low temperatures
Refrigeration plants, freezers, laboratory equipment and aeroplane parts are all bonded with silicones, since they provide working temperatures of down to -60°C, and in some cases even lower.
Chemical resistance
With regards to chemical resistance, silicones are generally an excellent option for sealing and adhesion. The array of products is broad. Consult Tribotec for the right product for your application.
Approved for food contact

Work environment friendly
Silicones are not classified as thermosetting resins. Thanks to this, there is normally no need for special adaptation of the workplace.
