Legislative changes
to labelling of chemical products
REACH is a new piece of chemicals legislation that replaces large sections of the regulations used in the EU and Sweden prior to 1 June 2007. REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. (The Swedish title is Registrering, utvärdering, godkännande och begränsning av kemikalier.)
CLP or the CLP Regulation is the new European regulation on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures. This legislation applies throughout the whole of the EU and introduces a new system for the classification and labelling of chemicals, based on the UN’s Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals or GHS.
New symbols for labelling chemicals have now been issued in connection with CLP. As illustrated by the image, symbols have now been replaced with hazard pictograms.
Tribotec continues to work to keep pace with new developments in this field. Find out more about our work on REACH and CLP on our environment page.
